Preventing floods can be quite a major task for some councils and it can be for everyone else too. One way in which many people prevent floods from affecting them is by using Sandbags.

The hessian sandbag is the most environmentally friendly out of the three as it rots away after a long period. The polypropylene sandbags however are more likely to last longer as they do not decompose due to their surrounding elements unlike the hessian sandbags.

All of the sandbags are usually filled with around 15kg of sharp sand even though their full capacity can hold 20kg. The reason for this is so that when the sandbags are being handled, they are not stiff and rigid, but flexible and much easier to place and fill gaps when building a "sandbag wall" for instance.
